Your place or mine?

 Your place or mine?

The latest edition of Mailout magazine has just been published and features a 3 page article written by our Director Clare McManus.  Entitled “Your place or mine?  Eventus on culture in placemaking”, it focuses on Creative Places.

A PDF version of the magazine is available to download from our website so that you can read our article on pages 26-28: http://www.eventus.org.uk/

Creative Places

'Inside Out' by Richard Hanson

'Inside Out' by Richard Hanson

Since our last issue in September, work on Creative Places has continued in earnest…

October saw the launch of Inside Out – a photographic exhibition at the Pakistan Advice Centre on Page Hall Road, Sheffield.  Photographer Richard Hanson was commissioned to work with residents of Page Hall to capture what was most important to them inside and outside their homes.  Richard has now also produced a limited edition exhibition brochure and images can be viewed on his website http://www.hansonphoto.co.uk/insideout.html

 Creative Places

Nationally the DCMS has launched its Living Places Culture and Sport Planning Toolkit.  Clare spoke on Creative Places at the regional launch seminar for the toolkit in Dewsbury. She gave a joint presentation with Karen Durham, Regional Partnerships Officer, Arts Council England Yorkshire.

 Creative Places

Clare and Karen also spoke at the North West Housing Market Renewal Arts Partnership Regional Group, hosted by Arts Council England North West in Manchester.  Colleagues from HMR Culture projects in the North West and West Midlands joined with us Yorkshire reps in sharing ideas and experiences. We’re currently looking at ways of sharing this with a wider audience!

Latest projects (in brief)

 Latest projects (in brief)

Last month we completed a publication for The Mighty Creatives (formerly CP BAM): Places and Spaces – exploring learning beyond a familiar environment, an essential guide to outdoor learning.  If you haven’t already found it, a PDF version of the guide can be downloaded from our website (http://www.eventus.org.uk/index.php/creative-partnerships ).

 Latest projects (in brief)

Most recently, we have been awarded a contract by Cultivate East Midlands to create an audience development project, Little Treasures, targeting women between 45 – 60 not currently engaged with the arts.  We are currently recruiting a photographer for this project (please see our website for the full brief http://www.eventus.org.uk/index.php/news, closing date 12noon,  4 January 2010).

 Latest projects (in brief)

And we’d like to wish a very happy Christmas indeed to the first group we have mentored through the HLF mentor / expert adviser scheme who have just been awarded a major 3 year grant.
